METAL FINISHES / BRASS

Art Services Inc. offers three welded metal options for our products: brass, stainless steel, and aluminum. These substrates not only look great within a contemporary context, but offer incredible support for artwork. The strength of welded joins ensures that heavy art objects are properly supported over a long period of time, and the alloys make them more durable in more volatile environments.

If you or your client is interested in creating a custom-colored frame, mount, or pedestal, powder-coated metals are a great option. The powder-coating process holds color extremely well: color is applied electrostatically and cured under heat or with ultraviolet light, which creates a smooth surface without drips or runs that is highly resistant to corrosion, flaking, and scratching.

Please read on below to learn more details about each metal alloy.

Brass is an alloy consisting primarily of copper with a small amount of zinc. It is strong, resistant to corrosion, and it’s warm reddish-yellow hues make it remarkably popular for decoration in interiors that appreciate gold. It is susceptible to black tarnish from oxidization of the metal, so it is important to keep brass looking its best with regular polishing.
