GOLD LEAF FRAMES / 22K GOLD

Art Services Inc. offers clients the opportunity to use precious metal leaf on a variety of substrates. We most often use 22ct and 12ct gold leaf, which can then be burnished to be brilliant and mirror-like, or waxed and aged to be subtle and matte. Depending on the color of bole used, the finished effect will take on warm or cool tones. Regardless of the finished aesthetic, all precious metal leaf is created using water gilding. Please read on below to learn more details about each leaf type.

22k Gold Frames
RC22K-MRSRB BLACK

22K Gold is a highly pure gold metal – right below the 100% purity of 24K Gold, at ~92%. With this slight introduction of additional metal alloys, you receive an important increase in hardness and durability. This is extremely important for the handling required for frames, pedestals, and custom fabrications. With a 22K Gold leaf application, you can expect the unique, warm golden sheen associated with the utmost purity, and hardness and durability associated with a lower karat.
